Preorders for the Formula Delta high-capacity oil pan for the FA24 Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ have reached the level needed to move the product into production. Thank you to everyone who placed an early order and helped make the casting run possible. We are now focused on final validation, tooling, manufacturing coordination, and preparing the production version for fulfillment.

We have also continued expanding the header compatibility list using 3D scans from customer and community vehicles. The HKS Super Manifold with metal catalyzer has been scanned and does not fit the current high-capacity oil pan. The PowerCraft exhaust manifold with the 45 mm tubing option does fit with significant clearance; assuming the routing is the same, the 42.7 mm version is also expected to fit. The P-Tuning race header has also been scanned and does not fit. These results have been added to the product compatibility information.

To support further compatibility checks, we are offering a $50 USD discount toward a high-capacity oil pan purchase for customers who provide a useful 3D scan of a header or allow us to scan a header that is not already on the fitment list. Local vehicles can be scanned with the header installed or removed from the car.

Early access testing is now wrapping up, and several lessons from that program are being incorporated into the production design. One important change is the addition of the FA24 PCV drain tube feature found on the OEM oil pan. Based on early tester feedback, the lack of this drain tube may have contributed to increased oil consumption in some cases, so a revised test pan with the drain tube incorporated has been sent out for validation.

The baffle design has also gone through additional development. Initial prototype testing was done at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, a high-speed circuit with long right-hand corners and elevation change, but relatively smooth driving surfaces when avoiding curbs. Early access testing exposed the pan to a broader range of tracks, including situations with curbing, bumps, and elevation changes at the same time. These conditions produced oil pressure drops in some cases, so the baffle system has been revised through multiple iterations and checked with CFD. The latest version is being tested, and if results are positive, those baffle updates will be incorporated into the production pan.

It is also important to define the intended use case clearly. The current oil pan is designed around the factory header package, which limits the available space and therefore the maximum possible capacity increase. Based on testing, we currently consider the pan suitable for track use up to 200tw tires, including high-performance super 200tw options. It improves performance compared with the OEM pan, but cars running slicks, or similarly high-grip competition tires may still require additional oiling mitigation.

On the manufacturing side, casting and machining tooling have now been paid for and ordered. The casting design is locked in, and the remaining adjustable area is the internal baffle package. We are working with the casting vendor on scheduling, solidification analysis, machining strategy, and the remaining production details. Multiple vendors are involved, and several components of the final oil pan assembly are now in procurement.

Preorder pricing will remain at $749 until the casting tooling is completed. After that point, pricing will move to MSRP. Because we are a small team, the first production inventory will likely remain lean, with only a limited number of extra pans beyond confirmed preorders. Customers who want a pan from the earliest production availability should place a preorder before the first batch is finalized.
